We prove that the Neumann, Dirichlet and regularity problems for divergence form elliptic equations in the half space are well posed in L2 for small complex L∞ perturbations of a coefficient matrix which is either real symmetric, of block form or constant. All matrices are assumed to be independent of the transversal coordinate. We solve the Neumann, Dirichlet and regularity problems through a new boundary operator method which makes use of operators in the functional calculus of an underlaying first order Dirac type operator. We establish quadratic estimates for this Dirac operator, which implies that the associated Hardy projection operators are bounded and depend continuously on the coefficient matrix. We also prove that certain transmission problems for k-forms are well posed for small perturbations of block matrices.

Bounded H∞-calculus for Pseudodifferential Operators and Applications to the Dirichlet-neumann Operator
Operators of the form A = a(x,D) +K with a pseudodifferential symbol a(x, ξ) belonging to the Hörmander class Sm 1,δ, m > 0, 0 ≤ δ < 1, and certain perturbations K are shown to possess a bounded H∞-calculus in Besov-Triebel-Lizorkin and certain subspaces of Hölder spaces, provided a is suitably elliptic. Applications concern pseudodifferential operators with mildly regular symbols and operators...

A general initial-boundary value problem of one-dimensional transient wave propagation in a multi-layered elastic medium due to arbitrary boundary or interface excitations (either prescribed tractions or displacements) is considered. Laplace transformation technique is utilised and the Laplace transform inversion is facilitated via an unconventional method, where the expansion of complex-valued...
متن کاملOn a quadratic estimate related to the Kato conjecture and boundary value problems
We provide a direct proof of a quadratic estimate that plays a central role in the determination of domains of square roots of elliptic operators and, as shown more recently, in some boundary value problems with L boundary data. We develop the application to the Kato conjecture and to a Neumann problem. This quadratic estimate enjoys some equivalent forms in various settings. This gives new res...
متن کاملHalf-Dirichlet problems for Dirac operators in Lipschitz domains
Recall that in the case of the Dirichlet problem for the Laplace operator ∂2 x +∂ 2 y in Ω ⊆ R2, one prescribes the whole trace of a harmonic function in, say, L2(∂Ω). On the other hand, for the Cauchy-Riemann operator ∂x + i∂y, natural boundary problems are obtained by prescribing “half” of the trace of the analytic function in L2(∂Ω). Such half-Dirichlet problems arise when, for example, one ...
متن کاملQuadratic Estimates for Perturbed Dirac Type Operators on Doubling Measure Metric Spaces
We consider perturbations of Dirac type operators on complete, connected metric spaces equipped with a doubling measure. Under a suitable set of assumptions, we prove quadratic estimates for such operators and hence deduce that these operators have a bounded functional calculus. In particular, we deduce a Kato square root type estimate.
